Midnight Spire Games<p>Be advised that there are some changes to text and button label behavior in Godot 4.4 that I don't see in the migration guide. Check your text for alignment issues. I think at least one of these is a bug, so I will try to report it when I have the time to spend on doing that. I'll list some of the things I learned the hard way in this thread. 🧵</p>

enpolished<p>Guys, I have big problems with my Godot game. The audio isn't playing, and there are more issues. I really want to explore Godot's new Jolt physics and 3D features, but I also don’t want to quit the development of Poliworld.</p><p>So, I’ve decided to make the game open source. Ben Lubar (any pronouns)<p>I'd also like some kind of pathfinding for flying/swimming characters which I don't think <a href="https://mastodon.lubar.me/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a> 's navigation system does</p>
Ben Lubar (any pronouns)<p>hmm</p><p>I might not be able to use <a href="https://mastodon.lubar.me/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a> 's built in navigation mesh thing</p><p>like, can I do "characters try to stay on paths but will cut across the grass if it's much shorter or impossible to get there on paths"?</p><p>it seems like you'd have to make separate navigation meshes and then somehow get it to generate them in a way that connects despite having only "include this geometry" and "don't include this geometry" as options and there's no real way to have geometry included in multiple navigation meshes or mark geometry as only being able to obstruct but not create regions</p>
Maki<p>Oh yeah, hey, so, I want to LEARN what the code does. I've found a few Godot 4 projects others made, but there's no real explanation of what does what, so I've been unsuccessfully hacking through it with limited success. I have access to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@kenney" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>kenney</span></a></span> 's Game Assets All-in-One 1.7.1 so there are tiles to use for a tilemap. I just don't grok how to put the TileMapLayer together for use within the code. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Godot</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Godot4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Godot4</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GameDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GameDev</span></a></p>
Maki<p>I'm trying to make a maze for my website but all the maze generator examples I can find are based on Godot 3 (KidsCanCode) or just somehow don't really explain what they do exactly. (What TileMap vs TileMapLayer?) Does anyone have a link for me to follow a proper Godot 4.3 tutorial for making a maze with a defined start tile and a defined end tile which can largely run on its own on a website and refreshes automatically when solved? <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Godot4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Godot4</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Godot</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Help" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Help</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Code" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Code</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Coding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Coding</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GameDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GameDev</span></a></p>
